This sculpture was created in Switzerland and I brought it in early January 2019 to Perseo, a well-known foundry in Mendrisio – the Italian part of Switzerland. Perseo applied the vacuum casting technique and three weeks later I had the finished bronze sculpture in my hands. This fast turnover was necessary because we left for Arizona in early February and the first copy was destined to be a wedding present to the bride from her best friends.
The sculpture represents a foal that is about to get up on its feet. The feet are very long and that is necessary because new born foals need to be ready to follow their mom and herd half an hour after they’re born.
